Both schools were unbeaten so far. It was a very interesting debate and both teams were going neck to neck.
It was all that you would want in a debate. Two very competitive teams going at it full bore, neither willing to give an inch. The first round saw a fine opening statement by Newark Park, but back came Inwood with a series of statements by their team. Newark Park’s stratergy was to use one spokesperson to lay out their case, while Inwood College High used a strategy of a series of speakers to make their case. That round ended in a standoff. As far as time management there were no Infractions. Then came the rebuttal argument where both teams seemed to be up on their game. It seemed to me this was heading for a tie. During the next segment where the judges asked questions both teams ask did equally well, as well as the closing comments. The final score separating them was 1 point. The score 67 for Newark and 68 for Inwood Early College.
